A circular stapler (10) comprising: a handle assembly (20)； an elongate body (30) extending from the handle assembly (20) and defining a longitudinal axis； a drive member (800) configured for longitudinal translation in response to actuation of the handle assembly (20), the drive member (800) including a recess (802) disposed adjacent a distal portion thereof； and a cartridge assembly (110) disposed adjacent a distal end of the elongate body, the cartridge assembly (110) including a pusher assembly (530), the pusher assembly being configured to mechanically engage a portion of the drive member (800) and being longitudinally translatable to cause staples to be ejected from the cartridge assembly (110), the pusher assembly (530) including at least one finger (820) including at least one tab (810), the at least one tab (810) being configured to engage the recess of the drive member (802) in response to relative approximation between the drive member (800) and the pusher assembly (530).
