PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the visibility of an intervention device in TEE image data. A guidance device for a TEE probe (20) includes an image data providing unit and a processing unit. The image data providing unit provides first image data showing the TEE probe (20) and the interventional device (40) in the initial position and orientation. The processing unit is configured to determine a centerline of the interventional device (40) in the first image data. The processing unit determines the plane (41) orthogonal to the tangent to the center line as the visual plane. The processing unit calculates the imaging plane and the imaging orientation of the TEE probe (20) so that it is approximately in the viewing plane. The processing unit provides the calculated data as guidance data.
