To provide a spherical silica-based particle having excellent oil-absorptivity and compressive strength.
SOLUTION: The spherical silica-based particle is obtained by spray-drying a dispersion liquid in which a silica microparticle dispersed liquid in which silica microparticles having an average particle diameter of 10-300 nm are dispersed in a dispersion medium and an aqueous dispersion liquid of biocellulose are mixed so that the biocellulose becomes 0.1-20 pts.mass to 100 pts.mass of silica and its average particle diameter is in the range of 1-100 &mu m and pore volume is in the range of 0.5-3.0 ml/g.
