The method involves applying a seed into a soil furrow using a seed plough (1). A deposition depth of the seed is produced in relation to a sowing machine (4) by measuring a position of a shoal base (2) of the plough, and by a measurement of a position of a soil surface area (3). A position of the seed plough is adjusted, and the position of the shoal base and soil surface area is measured contactlessely using tactile bodies (5,6). An independent claim is also included for a device for regulating a deposition depth of a seed.
