An arrangement (300) is adapted to determine an estimate for mineral density related to a patient's first bone, wherein said first bone is associated with a femoral head, neck and/or a lumbar spine. In order to determine the estimate, there is first determined a first parameter, which is related to a property change in a measurement signal, most preferably an ultrasonic signal, launched towards some second bone (301) of said patient other than the first bone after the measurement signal has been in interaction with said second bone. This is followed by determining an estimate for mineral density related to said patient's first bone by using said first parameter.L'invention concerne un agencement (300) conçu pour déterminer une estimation de la densité minérale liée à un premier os d'un patient, ledit premier os étant associé à une tête de fémur, à un col du fémur et/ou à une colonne lombaire. Pour déterminer l'estimation, on détermine tout d'abord un premier paramètre, qui est associé à un changement de propriété dans un signal de mesure, de préférence un signal sonore, lancé vers un second os (301) dudit patient, différent du premier os, après que le signal de mesure a été en interaction avec ledit second os. Cette opération est suivie de la détermination d'une estimation de la densité minérale liée audit premier os du patient au moyen dudit premier paramètre.
