An injection emulsion containing: a compound representing a substituted phenylacetic acid ester; a water-immiscible solvent; emulsifier; tonicity modifier; iodine; and optionally containing one or more of the following components selected from a pH buffering agent, stabilizer and excipient; wherein the pH of the emulsion is more than about 7; where the average emulsion droplet size is less than about 200 nm. 2. The emulsion according to claim 1, wherein said substituted phenylacetic acid ester is present in an amount of from about 0.25 wt.% To about 25 wt.%. 3. The emulsion according to claim 1 or 2, wherein said substituted phenylacetic acid ester is present in an amount of from about 0.25 wt.% To about 15 wt.%. 4. The emulsion according to claim 1, wherein said substituted phenylacetic acid ester is present in an amount of from about 1 wt.% To about 10 wt.%. The emulsion according to claim 1, wherein said substituted phenylacetic acid ester is [3-ethoxy-4 - [(N, N-diethylcarbamido) methoxy] phenyl] acetic acid n-propyl ester. The emulsion according to claim 1, wherein the water-immiscible solvent is present in an amount of from about 0.1 wt.% To about 50 wt.%. The emulsion according to claim 1, wherein the water-immiscible solvent is present in an amount of from about 5 wt.% To about 15 wt.%. The emulsion according to claim 1, wherein the water-immiscible solvent is a vegetable oil, animal oil, medium chain triglyceride, long chain triglyceride or semi-synthetic oil.
