Pharmazeutische Zusammensetzung zur Behandlung von Dyslipidämie, umfassend ein Extrakt aus Blättern von Cinnamomum Osmophlocum Kaneh. Dieses Extrakt kann erhalten werden, indem Blätter von Cinnamomum Osmophloeum Kaneh mit heißem Wasser extrahiert werden. Es enthält als Hauptbestandteile Kaempferol-O-&bgr-D-apiofuranosyl-(1&rarr2)-&alpha-L-arabinofuranosyl-7-O-&alpha-L-rthamno-pyranosid und Kaempferitrin.Preparation of an extract from Cinnamomum osmophloeumKaneh leaves comprises: extracting Cinnamomum osmophloeumKaneh leaves in hot water at 80-100[deg] C, preferably 95-100[deg] C. Independent claims are also included for: (1) the extract obtained by the above mentioned method and (2) a pharmaceutical composition for treating dyslipidemia, comprising the extract and a carrier. - ACTIVITY : Antilipemic. The antilipemic activity of the extract was tested in Syrian hamsters (40 pairs). The result showed that the extract exhibited a reduction of cholesterol level in group 1 administered with the extract (100 mg/kg body weight/day) from 243.5+- 36.3 at 0th week to 137.2+- 78.6 at 10th week, as compared to a positive control administered with gemfibrozil (20 mg/kg body weight/day), which exhibited a reduction of cholesterol level from 85.6+- 8.2 at 0th week to 101+- 26 at 10th week. - MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
