There is described a novel method for processing plant material to produce a cellulose- containing material. The process comprises the steps of: (i) contacting particles of plant material with a peroxide agent and water； (ii) allowing the mixture from step (i) to hydrate until the pH of the mixture is pH 4.5 or less； and (iii) homogenising the mixture from step (ii) and isolating the cellulose-containing-material, and wherein the particles of plant material in step (i) have an average particle diameter of from 10 µm to 800 µm.Se describe en la presente un método novedoso para procesar material vegetal para producir un material que contiene celulosa. El proceso comprende las etapas de: (i) poner en contacto las partículas del material vegetal con un agente de peróxido y agua； (ii) permitir que la mezcla de la etapa (i) se hidrate hasta que el pH de la mezcla sea pH 4.5 o menos； (iii) homogenizar la mezcla de la etapa (ii) y aislar el material que contiene celulosa, y en donde las partículas del material vegetal en la etapa (i) tienen un diámetro de partícula promedio desde 10 µm hasta 800 µm.
