The invention relates to a cosmetic composition for applying to scalp comprising an emulsion comprising 0.05-15 wt.% of the total composition of hydrophobically modified particles of silica, 0.05-25 wt.% of the total composition of amino functionalized silicone and water the cosmetic composition further comprising 0,01-25 wt.% of the total composition of a moisturizing agent and at least one component selected from vitamin and anti-dandruff agent, the composition preferably also comprising surfactant. The weight ratio of hydrophobically modified particles to amino functionalized silicone in the composition is from 3:1 to 1:50. The hydrophobically modified particles of silica have a primary particle size in dry state from 1 to 100 nm. The amino functionalized silicone used in the composition is amodimethicone having the general formulawherein each R is independently H or C1-4 alkyl each R1 is independently OR or C1-4 alkyl and each x is independently an integer from 1 to 4, and each y is greater than zero and independently an integer to yield a polymer having a molecular weight from 500 to 1 million.
