A surgical-guide production apparatus and accessories are configured to avoid contaminating the operating theatre. A cutting attachment (figure 4) has an extendable protective barrier drape (220) to enclose a cutting area； whilst a surgical-guide carrier (figure 9) has a flexible protective drape (340) which in use covers a non-sterile gimbal (140, figure 1) of the apparatus (figure 25E), the carrier mounting to the gimbal. The apparatus itself is arranged such that the cutting attachment is mounted below the gimbal so that debris falls away from the surgical guide as it is being modified. Also claimed is a mouldable material carrier (520, figure 17) used in producing an impression of the surgical site, the carrier having: an entranceway (524) connected to an internal cavity which is in communication with openings 512 on a surface of the carrier, such that mouldable material injected through the entranceway is distributed across the surface.
