The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating inflammatory diseases, which comprises aeroplysinin-1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the same as an active ingredient. During activation of macrophage which is a primary cellular vector of inflammatory response, aeroplysinin-1 is confirmed to show effects in controlling generation and expression of nitrogen oxide (NO) and interleukin-1&beta (IL-1&beta) which are representative inflammation mediators to cause inflammatory responses, and in controlling activation of nuclear factor-&kappaB (NF-&kappaB).
