PURPOSE: A health food composition is provided to prevent and improve osteoporosis by containing a DSX extract as an active ingredient which has an excellent activation on forming bone cells by measuring fission of bone cell, alkaline phosphatase activation, and collagen synthesis. CONSTITUTION: A health food composition comprises a complex crude drug extract as an active ingredient. The complex crude drug extract comprises angelica gigas, houttuynia cordata, bupleuri Radix, paeonia japonica, atractylodis Rhizoma alba, hoelen, moutan Cortex Radicis, glycyrrhizae radix, menthae Herba, gardeniae Fructus and ginger in a ratio of 1-10: 1-10:1-10:1-10:1-10:1-10:1-10:1-10:1-10: 1-10:1-10 (w/w). The extract is added in one selected solvent among water containing purified water, alcohol of carbon number 1 to 4, or a mixture of them. The functional health food comprises 0.1-50wt% of the complex crude drug.본 발명은 DSX의 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 골다공증의 예방 및 개선을 위한 조성물에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 DSX 추출물은 골세포의 분열능, 알칼리 포스파타아제 (Alkaline phosphatase) 활성, 콜라겐 합성 측정을 통해 골형성 증가 활성이 탁월함을 확인함으로써, 골다공증의 예방 및 개선용 건강기능식품에 이용될 수 있다.
