The invention relates to an apparatus fordesynchronization of neural, illness-synchronous brainactivity in which, according to the invention, theactivities in at least two subareas of a brain area orat least two functionally associated brain areas arestimulated by means of at least two electrodes, on thebasis of which, in the case of a person with anillness, desynchronization surprisingly occurs in therelevant neuron population and the symptoms aresuppressed. The feedback stimulation signal, that is tosay the measured, time-delayed and process neuralactivity, is used as an individual stimulus. Inconsequence, this results in demand control, which isself-regulating according to the invention, of theamplitude of the stimulation signal thus minimizing theintensity of the stimulation stimuli automaticallyafter successful desynchronization. For successfuloperation, the apparatus requires neither complexcalibration nor control of the stimulation parametersand, instead, these can preferably be adapted andoptimized by the additional controller. The apparatushas at least two stimulation electrodes (2) and atleast one sensor (3), which are driven by a controllersuch that they result in desynchronization in theirlocal environment.
