A method of preparing a gelling agent, the gelling agent obtained thereby, and the use of said gelling agent. The present invention relates to a method of obtaining a novel gelling agent. Said method comprises adding ethylcellulose, to a mixture of propyleneglycol laurate and propyleneglycol isostearate at a temperature of between 90°C and 110°C. The method according to the invention provides a simpler, less energy consuming, cheaper and easier way of obtaining a substantially gelling agent which can be used for manufacturing an oleogel and/or a bigel, for cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical use.L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'un gélifiant, le gélifiant obtenu par celui-ci et l'utilisation dudit gélifiant. L'invention concerne un procédé pour obtenir un nouveau gélifiant. Ledit procédé comprend les étapes consistant à ajouter de l'éthylcellulose à un mélange de laurate de propylène glycol et d'isostéarate de propylène glycol à une température entre 90 °C et 110 °C. Le procédé selon l'invention fournit une manière plus simple, plus économe en énergie, plus économique et plus facile d'obtenir un agent sensiblement gélifiant qui peut être utilisé pour la fabrication d'un oléogel et/ou d'un bigel, pour une utilisation cosmétique et/ou pharmaceutique.
