Embodiments of the present invention is related to an artificial cell apparatus which is useful for evaluation of pH responsive tumor targeted delivery systems which requires their activation in an acidic environment simulating tumor extracellular pH. The apparatus claimed comprises of four units or compartments namely, the tumor extracellular, the cell or plasma membrane, the cytosol and the nucleus compartments. The four units are designed to simulate various tumor extra- and intra-cellular conditions for successful evaluation of tumor targeted delivery systems. The tumor extracellular compartment is simulated using a syringe filled with required volume of acid buffer. The syringe is connected to the cell or plasma membrane compartment comprising of a syringe filter logged with.buffer of alkaline RH. The sample placed in the acidic buffer in the tumor extracellular compartment passes through the cell or plasma membrane compartment to reach the cytosol compartment. The cytosol compartment comprises of a double open ended cylindrical glass or plastic tube, one end of Which is closed using a dialysis membrane. The dialysis membrane of the-cytosol compartment is kept in contact with the nucleus compartment comprising of a solution of DNA.
