The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition suitable for topical administration comprising two active ingredients, a hydroxycarboxylic acid and prednicarbate, and a pyrrolidone carboxylate salt moisturizing agents. In a particular aspect, the two active ingredients in the present inventive compositions have a purity of at least 90% and a concentration of degradation product(s) less than about 10% of the starting concentration of the active ingredients.
