1. An oral composition comprising a probiotic contained in a mixture of hydrolyzed mammalian protein, one or more carbohydrates, and a binder. The composition according to claim 1, in which the probiotic contains viable cells of microorganisms. The composition of claim 2, wherein the viable cells of the microorganisms comprise Lactobacillus rhamnosus. The composition of claim 1, wherein the mammalian hydrolyzed protein comprises hydrolyzed casein. The composition of claim 1, wherein at least 20% of the total mammalian hydrolyzed protein is composed of a protein having a molecular weight of less than 2000 daltons. The composition of claim 1, wherein at least 70% of the total mammalian hydrolyzed protein is comprised of a protein having a molecular weight of less than 2000 daltons. The composition of claim 1, wherein at least 90% of the total mammalian hydrolyzed protein is composed of a protein having a molecular weight of less than 2000 daltons. The composition according to claim 1, in which the hydrolyzed protein is from about 10 percent to about 20 percent of the components of the mixture in terms of dry matter.
