The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for diagnosing dental caries. The apparatus for diagnosing dental caries comprises: a light source unit to emit transmission light to teeth a photographing unit to photograph the teeth to which the transmission light is emitted, and separate light with a wavelength of 400-450 nm and light with a wavelength of 800-850 nm in photographed light and an image generation unit to receive the light with a wavelength of 400-450 nm and the light with a wavelength of 800-850 nm photographed and separated by the photographing unit to generate images.
