The invention proposes: - irradiating a subjects body part (5) comprising at least one joint with light and locally detecting attenuation of the light at the at least one joint and at least one other portion of the body part (5), wherein the sampling frequency for locally detecting attenuation of the light is higher than the frequency of the subjects heartbeat.
