PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional water generator with high convenience.SOLUTION: In a functional water generator, an electrolysis part 4 comprising an anode 9 and a cathode 10 is installed in an electrolysis vessel 1, when functional water W1 is discharged from the electrolysis vessel 1 after generating the functional water W1 in the electrolysis part 4 by electrolyzing water W0 supplied into the electrolysis vessel 1, the functional water W1 is left in the electrolysis vessel 1 so as to immerse both electrodes of the anode 9 and the cathode 10, and electrode washing is performed by applying an electric current to the electrodes of the electrolysis part 4 in a direction opposite to a direction at the generation of the functional water W1.
