PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a state of a puncture needle intruding in the depth direction so to find out a relative position of the puncture needle to a tissue.SOLUTION: Different coloring is imparted according to a B mode image to which a picture element having the largest picture element value belongs among picture elements of the same position of a plurality of B mode images BA, BB, and BC adjacent in a scanning surface, and a display image set as a luminance value according to the largest picture element value is displayed. Thus, up to which B mode image scanning surface the puncture needle n intrudes can be found by a display color on the tip of an image of the puncture needle n. On which B mode image scanning surface a tumor k exists can be found by a display color of an image of the tumor k. Thus, the positional relationship between the tip of the puncture needle n and the tumor k can be found.COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO【課題】 穿刺針が奥行き方向に侵入していく様子を、組織に対する穿刺針の相対位置が判るように、表示する。【解決手段】 走査面が隣接する複数のBモード画像BA,BB,BCの同位置の画素のうちで最大画素値をもつ画素が属するBモード画像に応じて異なる彩色を加え且つ最大画素値に応じた輝度値とした表示画像を表示する。【効果】 穿刺針nの像の先端の表示色で、どのBモード画像の走査面まで穿刺針nが侵入しているか判る。また、腫瘍kの像の表示色で、どのBモード画像の走査面に腫瘍kが在るか判る。従って、穿刺針nの先端と腫瘍kの位置関係が判る。
