PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dentifrice composition which contains berberine and is excellent in astringent effect occurring from berberine, stability of berberine, use feelings after storage, and appearance stability and a stability improving method of berberine in the dentifrice composition.SOLUTION: The dentifrice composition containing berberine is prepared by compounding calcium carbonate as an abrasive. The dentifrice composition includes 10-45 mass% of sorbitol, which contains <0.045 mass% of direct reducing sugar, in terms of pure component sorbitol.
