PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation for skin having physical properties which is easy to use even for a patient with atopic dermatitis.SOLUTION: An external preparation for skin is made to contain carboxy vinyl polymer and/or a salt thereof, which may be alkyl-modified, and nonionic surfactant. Physical properties thereof are controlled so that remaining viscosity measured by a cone-plate viscometer under constant temperature conditions at 32°C is 200 mPa s or less, and so that Casson yield value is 40000 mPa or more.
