The scintillator has two elementary blocks or plates (4, 5) emitting photons (phi) based on incident radiation (R) e.g. X-rays, where the blocks or plates are made of identical materials such as crystal. The blocks or plates are assembled though a wafer by a connection unit i.e. glue joint (6), where the unit totally or partially absorbs the photons emitted by the plates. The connection unit possesses an adsorption co-efficient of 50 percentages on thickness of the connection, and includes an absorbing adhesive in a part of the visible spectrum and a coloring additive. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a scintillator.
