The present invention relates to a novel bacteriophage having a specific bactericidal activity against a composition for the prevention or treatment of infectious diseases comprising the bacteriophage as an active ingredient an antibiotic comprising the bacteriophage as an active ingredient an animal feed or drinking water comprising the bacteriophage as an active ingredient and a sanitizer or cleaner comprising the bacteriophage as an active ingredient. The novel bacteriophage of the present invention has a specific bactericidal activity against or with no influences on beneficial bacteria as well as excellent acid and heat resistance and desiccation tolerance. Therefore the novel bacteriophage can be used for the prevention or treatment of salmonellosis or salmonella food poisoning and also widely used in animal feeds drinking water for livestock sanitizers and cleaners.
