A lift-recliner chair (10, figure 1) comprising a base section (12, figure 1), a movable seat section (14, figure 1), a movable backrest section (16, figure 1) and actuator means 53 for moving the seat and backrest sections. The seat is pivotally mounted with respect to the base and the backrest is pivotally mounted with respect to the seat. The actuator means includes a single push only actuator for co-ordinated movement of both the seat and backrest sections. The single actuator may have a first range of movement for moving the backrest with respect to the seat section to provide the recliner function of the chair and a second range of movement for moving the seat section and backrest with respect to the base to provide the lift function of the chair. Furthermore, a guide 32 may be associated with one of the base and the seat with at least one follower 34 being associated with the other of the base so that the seat may be movable along said guide. The lift-recliner may further be of telescopic nesting configuration and comprise arcuate channels.
