The present invention relates to a method to select one or more examination information items for medical imaging examination before conducting the medical imaging examination, which comprises: a step of a position detector unit&primes detecting position data of a patient, in which the patient is placed on a patient support apparatus of a medical imaging apparatus for the medical imaging examination a step of a position data evaluation unit&primes evaluating the detected position data, in which a patient image including the surface image of the patient is generated based on the detected position data a step of the position data evaluation unit&primes determining a plurality of examination information items based on the surface image a step of a display unit&primes displaying the plurality of examination information items and a step of selecting one or more examination information items for an impending medical imaging examination. The one or more selected examination information items include those items selected from the plurality of examination information items.
