A hooded field crop spray apparatus (1) suitable for attaching to a spray vehicle for spraying crops is disclosed. The apparatus comprises an upper air guide hood (3) and a lower air guide hood (5) spaced from each other. The space between the air guide hoods form a flow path through which air may flow from an inlet opening to an outlet opening, whereby the inlet and the outlet extend over the longitudinal length of the apparatus. Spray nozzles (7), for dispensing a spray liquid, are disposed in the direct path of the air between the inlet and the outlet. The distance along the air flow path between the air guide hoods from the air inlet opening to the air outlet opening in a first part near the inlet stays substantially the same or diminishes and then in a second part near the outlet increases. In use, this causes the air flow to accelerate, leading to more effective application of the spray liquid to the crop.
