As long as the user grasps a holding grip of a walking assistance device to make the walking assistance device travel alongside with the user, the walking assistance device can assist the user to walk safely. A walking assistance device 60 includes: a base frame 2; two front wheels 30, 30 with D1 laterally disposed, the two front wheels 30, 30 being attached on a traveling side of the base frame 2; and one rear wheel 50 with D2 (>; D1) attached on another side of the base frame 2. An operation lame 10 including a holding grip 13 for an operator is height-adjustably attached to the base frame 2. A first axle support 20 with the axle of the front wheels 30 fixed is loosely attached to the base frame 2, whereby the front wheels 30 retain in contact with the ground 62 even when the operation frame 10 tilts. The axle 28 of the front wheels 330 is positioned on the traveling direction side with respect to the leading end 2a in the traveling direction of the base frame 2. Providing a gap 57 and a stopper 58 above the rear wheel 50 and downward pressing against the holding grip 13 allows the stopper 58 to come into contact with the rear wheel 50, to restrict the rotation thereof. Releasing the pressing restores the gap 57 to allow maintaining of traveling.
