PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biologically absorptive suture thread including chitin, chitosan, or a derivative thereof as raw material, with the decomposition rate being easily controlled corresponding to a purpose and application.SOLUTION: The biologically absorptive suture thread is manufactured from a monofilament or a multifilament spun from spinning dope which contains one or a plurality of components selected from chitin, chitosan, and a derivative thereof, and catabolic enzymes of the components. The catabolic enzymes are intermixed in the surface or inside of the suture thread.
