PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image processing apparatus capable of generating information allowing the shape of a non-swelling lesion to be easily recognized.
SOLUTION: A contour extraction unit 32 finds a first contour of the inner wall of a luminal body based on volume data. A lesion extraction unit 33 finds the position of the lesion based on the pixel value of pixels in a region outside the inner wall with the first contour as a reference. An estimation unit 34 estimates a second contour of the inner wall based on the position of the lesion and the first contour when the lesion is not present. A swelling level computing unit 35 finds the level of unevenness of the lesion based on the first and second contours. An image generation unit 4 generates image data representing the luminal body based on the volume data. A display control unit 5 displays information representing the level of unevenness and an image based on the image data in a display unit 61.
