The present invention relates to a method for measuring the absorption of fluid in an absorbent product (9), comprising at least the following steps, performed by a mobile device (1) comprising an image capturing device (2): capturing at least one image of a used absorbent product (9)； determining a measure of absorption of fluid by said product (9) based on image information in the captured image； and displaying information relating to the use of the absorbent product based said measure of absorption of fluid on said mobile device (1). By means of the invention, there is provided an improved method and apparatus for aiding a user of absorbent product to choose the right type of product for the user's individual needs.
