PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walking aid of a novel structure that can be compactly materialized with a lightweight and a simple construction.SOLUTION: In the walking aid for assisting walking of a user P, a first installation part that is attached to the legs of the user P and a second installation part that is attached to the trunk are connected with a left/right support force transmission part. Also, electric power supply from a power unit 48 to a motor that imparts a rotary driving force to both left/right support force transmission parts is controlled by a controller 46 based on the walking movement detection signal of a sensor, so that the rotating direction of the output shaft 44 of the motor 42 is controlled by the controller 46. With an output shaft 44 rotated to one way, a support force transmission part operating mechanism 66 draws one of the left/right support force transmission parts and delivers the other.
