The present invention pertains to: a paddy rice seed that includes at least one type of powder selected from among metal oxides (brown iron oxide zinc oxide and tin oxide); a method for manufacturing a coated paddy rice seed by spraying a resin emulsion onto a mixture of the powder containing the metal oxide and the paddy rice seed and drying after forming on the rice seed surface a coating layer including the metal oxide powder and the resin emulsion; a method for manufacturing a coated paddy rice seed by mixing the paddy rice seed and an emulsion paste including a resin that includes the metal oxide powder and drying after forming on the rice seed surface a coating layer including the metal oxide powder and the resin emulsion; and a composition for a paddy rice seed coating containing the metal oxide powder and the resin emulsion. According to the present invention it is possible to provide a coated paddy rice seed a method for manufacturing same and a composition for a paddy rice seed coating in which degradation of the paddy rice seed due to heat generated during the coating step and later steps is substantially eliminated coating operation efficiency is improved and bird damage is unlikely.
