The present plate system for securing a plurality of ribs includes a plate member, a lock of the plate, and a surgical cable having a distal end for connection to the plate and a distal end for advancing into the locking device about the bone. The surgical cable can be strained to approach the bone, force the bone together, and seat the plate on the ribs. The locking device can be reconfigured with a locking configuration that secures the bone plate to the surgical cable. The plate further comprises a plurality of through-holes for receiving these anchors that secure the plate to the corrugations.
