The present invention relates to a deployment system (10) for deploying a self expandable prosthesis (22), the deployment system (10) having a proximal (11) and a distal (12) end, and a longitudinal axis (13) extending from the proximal (11) to the distal (12) end. It further comprises a first tube (14) having a distal (21) tip element end, holding the proximal end of the prosthesis (22). The deployment system (10) also comprises a sheath tube which holds and compresses t a distal end (23) of the prosthesis (22) in the loaded state. The deployment system (10) further comprises an actuating mechanism (30) by means of which the axial movement of the tip element (18) releasing the proximal end (24) of the prosthesis (22) and the axial movement of the sheath tube (26) releasing the distal end (23) of the prosthesis (22) are controlled and operated separately from one another, wherein the actuating mechanism (30) comprises a switching element (32) being operable to perform different switching steps (P, N, 1, 2, 3, 4) (Fig. 1A).
