PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member which can maintain abrasion resistance over long periods and is excellent in durability.
SOLUTION: The sliding member is the low abrasion sliding member 10 which is employed under a wetting environment, the sliding member 10 contains a base material 12 formed from a polymer material having a methylene group and a polymer membrane 30 which covers the sliding face 16 of the base material 12, the polymer membrane 30 is composed of a polymer chain containing a phosphorylcholine group which is graft connected to the sliding face 16, and a phosphoric acid index (the peak intensity of the phosphate group of infrared spectroscopic analysis spectrum/the peak intensity of a methylene group) of the sliding face 16 is 0.28 or more.
