PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article and a diaper, allowing a wearer and the like to easily and visually recognize an excretory substance from a surface sheet side of the absorbent article while retaining such a use as improving an absorption ratio of liquid excretory substance such as urine.SOLUTION: An absorbent article 10 includes: a surface sheet 20 coming into contact with a wearers skin a backside sheet 30 disposed at an opposite side of the side of the surface sheet 20 that comes into contact with the wearers skin an absorber 40 provided between the surface sheet 20 and the backside sheet 30 and colored members 50a and 50b provided between the surface sheet 20 and the absorber 40 and having a color different from the color of the surface sheet 20 such that the wearer can visually recognize the colored members 50a and 50b via the surface sheet 20.
