PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floating island type water cleaning apparatus capable of efficiently performing sludge treatment as the secondary discrepancy in a marshy type water cleaning apparatus and, at the same time, performing a dredging operation by sucking sludge, or the like, accumulated on the bottom part of rivers, lakes and marshes, and the like. SOLUTION: This water cleaning apparatus 1 is provided with a tank body 2 which is floated on the water surface and discharges water 3 taken into an inflow port 2a from a discharge port 2b, a cleaning member 4 which is disposed in the tank body 2 and cleans the water 3 taken into the inflow port 2a side while the water 3 is discharged from the discharge port 2b, a float 5 giving bouyancy to the tank body 2 and a feed water means 6 which feeds the water 3 to the inflow port 2a. A meandering path 17 is formed in the tank body 2 and contaminated water is cleaned by repeating horizontal permeation and vertical permeation during the water flow. Therein, a sludge storage part 19 is disposed by making one part of the inside of the tank body 2 a double bottom structure. Further, a sludge discharge pipe 20 is faced to the sludge storage part 19 beforehand and the sludge accumulated in the sludge storage part 19 is discharged to the outside by a negative pressure suction force, or the like.
