A method for manipulating senescence in a plant, said method including introducing into said plant a genetic construct that includes a modified myb gene promoter that includes a nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, or a functionally active fragment or variant that they have at least 95% identity with the part of SEQ ID NO: 1 to which the fragment or variant corresponds and which has a size of at least 300 nucleotides, operatively linked to a gene encoding an enzyme involved in biosynthesis of a cytokinin, or one of its functionally active fragments or variants, wherein said myb gene promoter is modified to suppress or inactivate: (a) one or more specific root motifs wherein each of said specific root motifs includes a ATATT or AATAT consensus sequence； or (b) one or more specific pollen motifs wherein each of said specific pollen motifs includes a TTCT or AGAA consensus sequence.Un método para manipular la senescencia en una planta, incluyendo dicho método introducir en dicha planta una construcción genética que incluye un promotor modificado del gen myb que incluye una secuencia de nucleótidos de SEC ID Nº: 1, o un fragmento o una variante funcionalmente activos que tienen al menos 95 % de identidad con la parte de SEC ID Nº: 1 a la que corresponden el fragmento o la variante y que tiene un tamaño de al menos 300 nucleótidos, ligado operativamente a un gen que codifica una enzima que interviene en la biosíntesis de una citoquinina, o uno de sus fragmentos o variantes funcionalmente activos, en donde dicho promotor del gen myb se modifica para suprimir o inactivar: (a) uno o más motivos específicos de raíz en donde cada uno de dichos motivos específicos de raíz incluye una secuencia de consenso ATATT o AATAT； o (b) uno o más motivos específicos de polen en donde cada uno de dichos motivos específicos de polen incluye una secuencia de consenso TTCT o AGAA.
