Disclosed is a milking parlour for animals. The arrangement of a teat cup carrier in a milking stall is important. If the teat cup carrier is arranged at the side of the milking stall, the cows walk past the carrier when entering and exiting the stall polluting the teat cups. The milking parlour comprises at least one milking stall (3) teat cups (9) a teat cup carrier (8) and at least one robot arm (13). The milking stall (3) is arranged to receive an animal (4) in a predetermined milking position. The teat cup carrier (8) stores the teat cups (9) in the milking stall (3) in a storing area (A1) when not in use. The storing area (A1) is located at least partly in front of the front legs (4a) of the animal (4) with respect to the direction of the animal (4) when it stands in the predetermined milking position and substantially at a centre vertical plane (3a) in a longitudinal direction of the milking stall. The at least one robot arm (13) is provided with at least one gripping member (13a) which grips a teat cup (9) in the teat cup carrier (8) and attaches it on the teat of an animal (4) in the milking stall (3).
