An electronic cigarette device is provided having a battery 1, an atomizer mount 7 and a switch comprising a switching arm 4. A first contact 8 is mounted on the switching arm and a second contact 6 may be coupled to the battery. The switching arm is pivotably mounted to rotate between an open position, in which the first contact is not in electrical contact with the second contact, and a second position in which the first and second contact are in electrical contact at a first contact position. The movement of the switching arm from the closed position to a further position causes one of the first contact or the second contact to move across the surface of the other of the first contact or the second contact to a second contact position. Preferably this movement provides a scraping action that removes fouling deposits from the surfaces on the contacts. The mount is provided for mounting the cartomizer 5 to the switching arm.
