An instrument channel extension assembly (600) is provided for use with an endoscope (606) having an instrument channel (607) extending between an instrument channel port (604) and a forward end of the endoscope. The instrument channel extension assembly (600) comprises: a connector (602) configured for selectable coupling to said instrument channel port (604) of said endoscope (606)； and an instrument channel extension tube (608) attached at a first end thereof to said connector (602). The instrument channel extension assembly (600) may also comprise a remote instrument channel type port (610) coupled to a second end of said instrument channel extension tube (608).
