PURPOSE:To obtain a composition capable of selectively killing wide variety of weeds in crop field, by using a tetrahydrophthalimide derivative and 2,6- dinitro-N,N-dipropyl-4-trifluoromethyl-aniline, etc., as active components. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition contains (A) a compound of formula I (R is H or CH3) and (B) the compound of formula II or N-(1-ethylpropyl)-2,6- dinitro-3,4-xylidine of formula III at a weight ratio of 1:(0.2-700). The composition is especially effective in controlling a wide variety of weeds in a field of crops such as wheat, barley, etc. The herbicidal activity is synergistically improved compared with the separate use of each component. It can be used at a low rate of application and has extended herbicidal spectrum. The above composition enables simultaneous killing of hardly controllable weeds such as cleavers, white-bird's-eye, water foxtail, etc.
