The processor is configured to generate patient data, associated with the patient being monitored, comprising the medical data 604 and the vehicle identifier 602. The processor is also configured to control the communications module to transmit the patient data to a remote server 608. The disclosure is particularly suitable for medically monitoring patients remotely, using communication between apparatus in an ambulance and a hospital for example. In use, the invention may transfer data relating to blood-pressure, temperature or heart-rate. Allows early preparation to be made by hospital staff to prepare for an emergency arrival via ambulance.
