PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device for an endoscope capable of preventing a filter member from deteriorating.
SOLUTION: A pinion gear 64 rotates when a system control circuit determines that the accumulative using time of a first infrared cut filter held by a first holder 69 and being used exceeds a predetermined upper limit time. A first slider 66 and a second slider 68 move toward a light path of illumination light L and so as to space apart from the light path of the illumination light L respectively from the condition shown by the rotation of the pinion gear 64. The rotation of the pinion gear drive motor is stopped and a second infrared cut filter held by a second holder 70 is used when the second slider 68 comes into contact with a second switch 62. At this time a warning message showing that the first infrared filter must be changed is shown on a monitor.
