PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin absorbent article with high liquid absorptivity, which reduces stuffiness.
SOLUTION: An absorbent 4 is provided with a fiber assembly 11 and an adjacent member 13b adjacent to the surface 11b on the non-skin abutting surface side of the fiber assembly 11. The fiber assembly 11 is configured by including one or more of fibers 14 selected from a group comprising synthetic fibers, regenerated cellulose fibers and semisynthetic cellulose fibers and many granular water-absorptive polymers 12. Many granular water-absorptive polymers 12 are unevenly distributed on the non-skin abutting surface side of the fiber assembly 11 before the fiber assembly 11 absorbs liquid, and after the fiber assembly 11 absorbs the liquid, at least part of them is detached from the fiber assembly 11 and interposed between the fiber assembly 11 and the adjacent member 13b to form a water-absorptive polymer layer 15.
