PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walking type transplanting machine in which a row of seedling in two ridges (two rows in total) can be planted, respectively, and two sensor rollers are provided and proper elevation control of a machine body is made possible, and further the surface pressure to a ridge surface of two sensor rollers can be equalized or reduced by half so as not to break the ridges.SOLUTION: A walking type transplanting machine is configured such that a control unit controls an actuator based on detection results of a detection unit for detecting irregularities of the upper surface of ridges, and the controlled actuator lifts and lowers a machine body provided with a pair of left and right planting units for planting seedlings in the ridges, and thereby the planting depth of the seedlings to the ridges by the planting unit is kept constant. The detection unit comprises a roller support attached on a machine body in a vertically oscillating manner, a balance rod with left and right sides formed in a vertically oscillating manner by pivoting a central part in the roller support, and a pair of left and right sensor rollers attached to the left side end and right side end of the balance rod.
