EL LRP1 COMO RECEPTOR CLAVE PARA LA TRANSFERENCIA DE COLESTEROL ESTERIFICADO DESDE LAS LIPOPROTEÍNAS DE MUY BAJA DENSIDAD (VLDL) AL MIOCARDIO ISQUEMICO
The invention relates to novel molecules that can modulate one of the mechanisms leading to the massive deposition of cholesterol in the cardiomyocyte and/or in the smooth muscle cells of the vascular wall, during acute myocardial infarction or other clinical situations involving ischaemia. The invention also shows that the blockage of the LRP1 by means of certain agents including a recombinant expression vector, an RNAi, an antibody, an siRNA etc, prevents the overaccumulation of sterified cholesterol in the cardiomyocytes and/or in the smooth muscle cells of the vascular wall exposed to ischaemia. The invention also relates to the use of said molecules in the treatment and/or prevention of the changes in the metabolism of calcium and cardiac remodelling associated with ischaemia.La presente invención se refiere a nuevas moléculas con capacidad de modular uno de los mecanismos que conducen a la deposición masiva de colesterol en el cardiomiocito y/o en las células musculares lisas de pared vascular durante el infarto agudo de miocardio u otras situaciones clínicas que cursan con isquemia. Además la presente invención también demuestra que el bloqueo del LRP1 mediante distintos agentes: un vector de expresión recombinante, un RNAi, un anticuerpo, un siRNA, etc. previene la sobreacumulación de colesterol esterificado en los cardiomiocitos y/o en las células musculares lisas de pared vascular expuestos a isquemia.
