PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a greening construction method for preventing the generation of heat-island phenomena, improving environment for growing plants on rooftops comprising highly temperature-up/heat-absorbing concrete, or the like, and making the environment free from maintenance to the utmost so as to enable reduction in maintenance costs. SOLUTION: The greening construction method comprises the following process: forming a charcoal layer 6 on a waterproof sheet 4 laid on the rooftop; putting a water-retaining mat 7 on the charcoal layer 6; forming an artificial soil layer 8 on the mat; putting a water-retaining mat 9 on the artificial soil layer 8; and laying a vegetation mat 10 where seeds and fertilizer are mixed with soil, on the water-retaining mat 9. In this process, the water-retaining mat 7 can be put between the waterproof sheet 4 and the charcoal layer 6. The method enables that a vegetation bed 2 is hard to be affected by the weather or environment at a downtown area, the secondary damage against the surrounding area can be easily prevented, renewal or reform of greening equipment becomes simple and easy to the utmost, and the amount of generation of wastes when removed is reduced.
